9/19/2008 — LocalPoint Media (LPM), the national advertising network formed
to represent suburban and community newspapers in the United States and Canada,
has a new Chief Operating Officer. Cindy Hefley, currently Director of Sales for
LocalPoint Media, has been promoted to COO effective immediately.
Prior to joining LocalPoint about a year ago, Hefley held senior advertising management
positions with Tucson Newspapers and the San Diego Union Tribune. Her area of specialty
with both companies centered around major and national accounts. Hefley also delivers
strong community newspaper experience having started her career at the popular Kansas
newspaper, the Wichita Eagle.
"Cindy has sold more advertising schedules than anyone else since coming to LocalPoint,"
said Nancy Lane, President of Suburban Newspapers of America and LocalPoint Media.
"In addition to selling travel advertisements to clients like Harrah’s and Los Cabos,
she has formed key partnerships with other large networks that are now starting
to place a lot of business with LocalPoint. Her enthusiasm and track record make
her the perfect choice to lead this network."
LocalPoint Media represents 14 categories of national advertising (like travel,
financial, luxury and automotive). More than one thousand newspapers in the US and
Canada have provided deeply discounted rates to LocalPoint Media to help make the
one-order, one-bill sales process easy and affordable for national media buyers.
All community newspapers, regardless of their affiliation with SNA, are invited
to input their rates into the LPM database at no charge (go to www.localpointmedia.com for more information).
"I am thrilled to lead this network into the future," said Cindy Hefley. "We are
poised for a good fourth quarter and a great year in 2009 as media buyers are really
starting to use our services now that they understand what LPM offers. National
advertisers are looking for ways to supplement their metro daily buy and reach deeper
into target markets — we offer the perfect solution."
LocalPoint Media was formed in August 2007 and is owned by SNI, SNA's for-profit
subsidiary and 19 community newspaper companies including: American Community Newspapers,
LLC, ASP Westward, LP, Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc., Dix Communications, GateHouse
Media Inc., NPG Newspapers, Inc., Packet Publications, Rhode Island Newspaper Group,
Schurz Communications, Inc. and Sun-Times Media Group.
