Listen to the Wachovia/SNA Call — Community Newspapers Report 2nd Quarter Results
8/19/2008 — Last week, SNA co-hosted a call with Wachovia Equity Research
to share the second quarter community newspaper advertising results with the financial
community. The audio recording of that call is now available free of charge.
Donna Barrett, President/CEO of Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc. and David Black,
President/CEO of Black Press provided extensive commentary during the call that
was handled in a Q&A format by John Janedis, Media Analyst, Wachovia Equity Research.
Anyone that publishes community newspapers or advertises with them will be interested
in this call. The community newspaper segment of the industry in general is not
experiencing the double digit declines or massive layoffs that are dominating the
metro daily industry. Community newspapers remain the sweet spot of the industry
and although they are certainly affected by the tough economy, executives remain
optimistic and bullish on the future. (Click
here for full press release detailing the second quarter findings).
After listening to the call, please send us your feedback or post a comment in our
forums. Newspapers that did not participate in the
second quarter report are encouraged to sign-up for the third quarter report by
sending your name, email address and phone number to
sna@suburban-news.org.
